Ansa del Tevere Viaduct

Ansa del Tevere Viaduct

Ansa del Tevere viaduct is a prestressed reinforced concrete cable-stayed bridge, 145 meters long with a roadway width of 24 meters, located at kilometer 2+800 of the A91 Roma – Fiumicino Highway. Designed by Prof. Ing. Riccardo Morandi and completed in 1967, it is the first of this type built in Rome and the only one among the cable-stayed viaducts designed by Morandi to support a section of curved road.
The feasibility study focused on a cost/benefit analysis aimed at comparing three distinct solutions: two different types of intervention to restore and increase the viaduct’s load-bearing capacity, and a third option, which involves the construction of a new alternative route, entirely on a viaduct with two cable-stayed bridges crossing the River Tevere.
