Liscione Dam

Liscione Dam

A flooding event (January 2003) caused damage to the Ponte Liscione Dam, affecting several elements of the structure including the free surface spillway, the surface outlet, dissipation elements and elements downstream of the dissipation basin. L’opera design by prof. ing. Filippo Arredi, the main body is a gravity type, with a trapezoidal embankment section made of an impermeable fill, with a thick layer of concrete, and a top width of 9 meters.
Breng was responsible for the detailed design of the ancillary structures of the dam, with a particular focus on downstream barriers. These include the design of a bulkhead and retaining walls. The activity for the definition of the top heights of the bank walls required the execution of a hydraulic study with numerical modeling to determine the hydraulic radius along the track.
