Hangar 2-3 and workshops of the Fiumicino Airport

Hangar 2-3 and workshops of the Fiumicino Airport

Safety assessment and extraordinary maintenance work of the stay cables and elevated structures of Hangar 2 – 3 and nearby workshops. The complex of buildings used as aeroplane hangars, workshops and offices for Alitalia’s Aircraft Maintenance Centre was built in the first decade of the 1960s and designed by Prof. Ing. Riccardo Morandi. The roof consists of a series of prestressed reinforced concrete beams articulated in three section jointed each other by means of hinges. They are connected by flat elements (Dalle) and supported by a system of stay cables in such a way as to form a statically determined system.
